Turmeric may help prevent, control or even kill several types of cancer including breast, colon and prostate. A study published in 2001 in the scientific journal “The Prostate,” found that curcumin significantly inhibits prostate cancer growth and has the potential to prevent the progression of the cancer to its hormone refractory state. Although further human trials are required before doctors can recommend curcuma, the substance appears to have a strong potential for fighting many different cancers. The University of Maryland Medical Center explains that the herb may work by stopping the growth of the blood vessels that supply cancerous growths, and its preventative effects may derive from its antioxidant activity that protects cells from damage.
Wasabi (Wasabia japonica) Root Powder. Current research is focused on the isothiocyanates (ITCs) that provide the majority of activity. Many scientists have concentrated on 6-MITC, of which Wasabia japonica contains a high concentration. It has been found to be 40 times more effective than other ITCs found in other Brassicas (broccoli, cauliflower). An important point is that ITCs are effective against the cancerous cells but do no harm to healthy cells. No side effects have been encountered. There is now evidence showing that wasabiand its ITCs provide other medical effects to include reducing diarrhea (Nakayama et al., 1998); protecting nephrons in diabetes patients (Fukuchi et al., 2004); acting as antioxidants (Gao et al., 2001; Lee et al., n.d.); providing immune modulation (Manesh and Kuttan, 2003); and inhibiting cancer and reducing treatment toxicities (Manesh and Kuttan, 2005).1
Sunflower Lecithin Powder is increasingly used by formulators in place of soy lecithin, which is not only allergenic, but often comes from GMO (genetically modified) soy. The sunflower lecithin powder in this formulation comes from non-GMO sunflowers and is non allergenic. The Phosphatidylcholine in this formula is also derived from sunflower seeds.
